Myth: The Pill doesn¹t work.
Truth: Women who take the Pill consistently and
correctly- all the time- have less than a one-in-one-hundred chance
of becoming pregnant.
However, many women don't stay on schedule.
* Only 28 percent of women always take the Pill correctly.
* Only 42 percent take the Pill every day.
* At least 16 percent have pills left at the end of the month.
* About 25 percent stop using the Pill before a year has passed
and don't use another method.
* About 33 percent of teens missed a pill in a three-month period.
* About 17 percent don't take the pills in the right order.
Myth: You need to "take a rest" from
taking the Pill.
Truth: There is no medical reason to stop taking
the Pill.
* There are medical benefits to taking the Pill.
* Taking a rest can lead to unintended pregnancy.
* Stopping and starting the Pill may cause another round of unpleasant
side effects that can happen in the first months of use.
* If you stop, you miss all the other medical benefits of the
Pill.
